About the National Poultry Improvement Plan (NPIP)

What Is NPIP?

The National Poultry Improvement Plan (NPIP) is a cooperative program between the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), state agencies, and the poultry industry. Established in the 1930s, NPIP was originally created to eliminate pullorum disease in chickens. Today, the program helps monitor and control various poultry diseases, including Avian Influenza, Salmonella, and Mycoplasma.

NPIP is designed to ensure that poultry and hatching eggs sold and shipped across state lines meet strict health and safety standards. Participation in NPIP is voluntary, but required for businesses that ship live poultry or hatching eggs across state lines.

Why NPIP Matters

Participating in NPIP demonstrates a commitment to responsible, disease-free poultry practices. It ensures:

  • Traceability and accountability in the movement of poultry.
  • That flocks are regularly tested and monitored for serious diseases.
  • Compliance with federal and state-level laws for poultry transport.

When you buy from an NPIP-certified source, you know the birds and eggs are from healthy, tested flocks and handled according to USDA standards.

Our NPIP Certification

Undique LLC is a certified NPIP participant, as well as a certified Pullorum Tester for the State of New Jersey, accredited by the Department of Agriculture.
Our official NPIP Participant Number is 22-456.

We maintain active compliance with all testing and recordkeeping requirements, and we file the NPIP Form VS 9-3 for all qualifying shipments of hatching eggs.
This ensures our customers receive eggs that are not only high-quality, but also legally and safely transported across state lines.

What Is NPIP Form VS 9-3?

Form VS 9-3 is the official USDA document used to report the interstate movement of hatching eggs, chicks, and poultry. It must be filed by a certified NPIP participant at the time of shipment and includes information such as:

  • Quantity and type of poultry or eggs
  • Destination and origin
  • Certification status

This form is essential for legal interstate transport of hatching eggs and ensures all shipments are documented and traceable.
